This is a fast-paced team that is now expanding to continue to deliver a larger programme of new and sustainable solutions. A brand-new position has been created to join our Environment & Innovation team as a Data Steward and Agile Specialist. About the role The Data Steward & Agile Specialist is responsible for ensuring the integrity, quality, governance, and accessibility of data supporting the £650m Storm Overflow Reduction Programme. The role combines data stewardship expertise with Agile delivery support, managing data tool development using Jira and facilitating effective collaboration across teams. What you will be responsible for Implementing data governance policies, standards and procedures. Ensuring data is accurate, consistent, complete and compliant. Maintain metadata, data dictionaries and business glossaries. Monitoring and improving data quality through profiling and validation. Facilitate Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives) Produce regular reports on analytics product progress, risks, and milestones What you’ll bring to the role Proven experience in data stewardship, data governance, or data management roles Hands-on experience working in Agile / Scrum environments Strong expertise in Jira and backlog management Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to balance technical data responsibilities with delivery leadership Southern Water is at the forefront of transforming Britain’s water industry, investing significantly to enhance resilience, sustainability, and service excellence.
